Welcome back. Today we have a review of It: Chapter 2. If you'll recall, Chapter 1 detailed the kids' story, set in 1989. I believe this decision was made to connect with younger viewers. In my opinion, this is a tragedy. If we keep everything updated, then no one will know what life used to be like. In people's minds the past will be in two parts: cell phones and pre-cell phones. But I digress.
It is now 2016 and Pennywise is back. Mike Hanlon, the only remaining member of the Losers Club in Derry, calls up the others and brings them home. They show up and all reject his proposal to fight the monster again, and thus prepare to depart. Mike takes Bill aside, drugs him, and reveals to him how to defeat It once and for all, and then Bill changes the minds of the others. They spread out across town and find 'tokens' of their past experiences, then come together for the final showdown.
I thought this was a good movie. It was not as frightening as It: Chapter 1, but it was worth the watch, especially if you hate to leave a story incomplete. My only true gripe with the movie was the resolution. The posthumous letter from Stan was absolutely ridiculous and should not have even been attempted.
I think this was my favorite cameo by Stephen King. He plays the pawn shop owner, and he's awesome.
